Professional Background
I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University in 2002. I have worked in a variety of settings including Inner Harbor Hospital, housing one of Georgia’s largest psychiatric residential programs for children and youth. There I began my training to work with individuals who are survivors of abuse or other traumas. I also trained at the Regents Center for Learning Disorders in Atlanta, Georgia, which assesses and aids students with learning disorders. Through research and therapy, I began exploring the ways anxiety and other emotional issues affect learning. In addition, I worked at The Cedars Academy, a residential school which specializes with children diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. This program teaches self-managing behaviors in the hope of decreasing the need for medication.
I have been in private practice since 2005. I have done contract work with schools as well as work with the state. I have administered over 1,200 psychological evaluations for the courts and the state, as well as for individuals. In order to concentrate on therapy full time, I no longer administer psychological evaluations. However, I still use testing measures during the course of treatment to aid with tracking progress and direct the course of treatment.
Currently, I focus on individual and family therapy with children, adolescents, and adults. I have been trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral therapy. Much of my continuing education centers on work with trauma survivors and those struggling with depression and anxiety.
