Depression and Anxiety
Throughout my career I have identified a factor for many of those struggling with depression and anxiety. There can be pressure from society and ourselves, sending the message that we need to look, behave, or function in a certain way. I often find depression and anxiety are the outward manifestation of someone not living an authentic life, not truly listening to their own voice. I have developed a passion for working with adolescents and adults, helping them rediscover themselves. In no way do I want to appear to minimize the seriousness of either of these diagnoses. Both depression and anxiety can certainly have a biological basis and should be viewed as a medical condition in many cases. However, I do not think that is always an accurate description for those struggling with these symptoms. In recent years, I have seen an upsurge in anxiety and depression in children and adults. I believe this may be a product of increased homework, activities, social media influence and work/life demands of the past decade. I have a strong dedication to continued research regarding programs and treatments to navigate and overcome behavioral manifestations and emotional symptoms of both anxiety and depression |
